When is the best time to climb Kilimanjaro?

  1. Walking boots (carry them on the plane with you in case your baggage goes missing);
    We can supply boots in case of an emergency, note that when climbing in boots you
    have not worn is not to be recommended, it is however advised to travel either
    wearing your boots or carrying them in your hand luggage.
  2. A warm waterproof hiking jacket (Can be hired at USD40 depending on the length
    of your stay
    ).
  3. Warm trousers (can be hired for USD40).
  4. Shorts or light trousers for walking in the tropical rain forest
  5. T-Shirts
  6. Sun Hat
  7. Very warm gloves (Can be hired upon request)
  8. Balaclava or warm hat (Can be hired at US$20 depending on the length of your
    stay).
  9. Gaiters (waterproof if possible) (Can be hired for USD20 per pair)
  10. Rain gear (rain cape, waterproof over trousers) (USD35 per item)
  11. Thermal underwear
  12. Warm hiking socks
  13. Sandals or light shoes for the evening
  14. Cotton socks
  15. Sunglasses with high UV protection
  16. A small rucksack for your personal belongings, which you will carry with you, must
    be waterproof, or put everything in plastic bags (Can be hired at USD50 for the
    length of your stay
    ), you are advised to always keep your passport and other
    valuables in person.
  17. A big waterproof bag (see note above) max 16 -18 kgs in weight when full for the
    porters to carry, with a padlock or luggage lock (Can be hired at USD70 for the
    length of your stay
    )

    recommended to start taking it in advance of your trip, in case you cannot tolerate it)

    water and snacks, but you are also allowed to bring energy bars.
  30. Sleeping Bag up to -19°C /–25°C (we can hire upon request at USD 60 for the
    length of your stay

  31. Poles if you use them (we can hire for USD35 for the length of your stay)
  32. Insurance Cover- You should be fully covered by insurance, which must cover the
    altitude and activities in your itinerary, and the
    cost of repatriation and evacuation by helicopter in case you become too ill to
    continue. You must declare any pre-existing medical conditions to the
    insurance company. We advise you to take out appropriate insurance at the time of
    making the booking, as this will safeguard your payments should you
    subsequently have to cancel for an insured reason.
  33. Photocopies of your passport, one to be submitted to us before you climb, or you may
    choose to leave your passport in our safe or at the hotel safe and take a of it copy with
    you. If decide to you take your passport, please make sure to keep it away from being
    exposed to rain.
    Please note that it can rain heavily on Kilimanjaro all your gear should not be exposed against
    the rain.
    Personal Expenses
    Tips are a custom in Tanzania, we provide you with an envelope to avoid being bothered by
    our crew for tips; the tips are then equitably distributed after you have left. You will need to
    buy souvenirs (bargaining is acceptable) and drinks outside those provided by us. A beer
    costs about USD4 and USD5-6 in your hotel.
    NB: If by any chance the airline loses or misplaces your luggage, we can replace most items
    of clothing for the mountain, even toiletries (price depending on what you have lost), but it is
    recommended that you carry a change of underwear in your hand luggage and your boots. We
    can hire out standard items without notice. We can also hire other clothing such as
    climbing trousers, jackets, socks, etc if we are given notice of the sizes and quantity required
